May 11, 2013

I have been working hard on what seems like everything but what I really want to do!!   The opportunity to begin another chapter in my life has come about from a new art marketing book I found!!  I have joined a group that paints "daily" (even though I am not up to that speed yet).
The website is www.dailypaintworks.com.  I have uploaded two of my pieces into the auctions in the hopes that I can entice some wonderful collectors.

As time goes on I really hope to be able to keep up with some of the talented artists on this site and use them for motivation to keep going.  The other pieces I have already painted will be added to my gallery on the site in the next few weeks and I will be completing a new one by next week...I really feel like this could be my future life work!!

              Hope you check me out.......Cindy

Not all about travel!!

Holly
Jolly Ole Mark
Allie
A while back...when I started to get serious about my painting I decided to try a portrait...I asked my daughter to pose for me and jumped right in!!  I know this has nothing to do with travel but it certainly is part of my journey.   Then I got even braver and painted my cousin Mark as Santa Claus...that was lots of fun!!  My latest attempt was the portrait of a little girl with the sweetest face...I hope you enjoy!!

Another pic from the past!

This painting is of Rockport, MA.  I had taken this photo on a trip to Rockport at least 20 years ago with my art teacher!!  I finally decided to tackle it ...and I think it works pretty well!!  I am sort of jumping around with my works right now...but I'm still getting the hang of this "blogging" thing and because of that I am just filling in the blanks as I come to them.  I still work full time and so only get to paint when I am in my class( with the same teacher) which is why I still take classes!!! Sort of forces me to paint..you know!!!

I hope you continue to follow me as I try to make sense of my journeys...both in art and in travel.  Sometimes I will probably go off track but I promise I will try to make it work so you can enjoy!!!

More from Colorado!!

The Gallery
Going cross-country was a new, exciting experience for me...and seeing the Rockies was amazing!! My family and I took a day trip into Breckenridge...although it was July and certainly not skiing weather the scenery was still beautiful!!  We walked along the main streets and took in the shops and some yummy food.  As we walked I snapped some great photos and have used them to paint from... the following picture is an oil that I did of a small art gallery right on the main street.  The bright colors caught my eye and this painting actually won an award at the Monson Art Council Show!!  Hope you like it!!

Starting with the past!!

Sprague Lake
I am starting with a post about a beautiful trip to Colorado (made in 2005) with my husband and son.  We drove cross-country which I loved, as I had not done that since I was 2 years old.  We saw the most amazing country.  I was proud to be an American.  The sights were very different from our rolling hills and small mountains here in New England.  I was amazed by how flat the center of our country is.  We kept looking for the Rockies as we got closer to our destination...it seemed we would never see them, everything was still so flat...as we pulled into Longmont, CO (to visit with family) it was kind of hazy...then...the haze lifted and there THEY were...the most majestic mountains I had ever seen!!!

While we were in Colorado we got to visit the Rockie Mountain National Park ...the picture I will be posting was painted from a photo I took of Sprague Lake....I hope you enjoy!!!

Is this "my next life"???

I guess I'm having a sort of identity crisis...what do I want to be when I grow up??  Well, since I should already know and don't, I believe this blog may help me figure it out!!

I'm certainly not a writer ..as you will soon see...but I want to do so many things that I do not know which way to turn.  I work full time in sales and also do interior design..I  think I'm pretty good at the design end...not so strong in the sales department...I love to paint (in oils) but I'm not driven enough to make myself go to the studio...I like to organize for others but can't make myself finish anything at home!!!  I was hoping to start a business in organizing and design but have not put enough effort into it!!

My favorite expression is "in my next life"!!  I have decided that at almost 60 I need to make NOW my "next life".  In 2009 I got to meet my sister-in-law in France to join her for a month long trip (that she organized) to see the countryside and to paint together.  It was the trip of a lifetime and has started a desire in me to travel more and paint what I have seen.  We snapped plenty of shots to work from and I have started a series of paintings to remind me of the amazing sights I got to enjoy.

This will be a place where I will begin to take the art I create ( and maybe some photos) and start to keep my travels documented...even if they are not in the correct time order!!  Since I didn't start painting in order it would be too hard to keep the travels in order!!

I hope to also begin to work for myself and hope this pushes me to start (and complete) some jobs and get my name out there!!

I will be posting the first painting I completed with a description of where I was soon...please keep watching!!!
